Stark Raving Sangria

This past year we’ve had the opportunity to try many different wines. We are still discovering what we like and don’t like, but we’re certainly having fun in the process.

Recently we tried some wine from Stark Raving from Rosenblum Cellars, a wine new to BC which originally hails from Sonoma County, California. We tried both the red and white, and were surprised that the red was the stand-out, with a delicious aroma of plum and dark cherry. Once we tasted it, we knew we had to make Sangria!

Rosenblum uses a variety of grapes for their Stark Raving collection to create “something totally unique, totally delicious, and absolutely Stark Raving.” We added fresh fruits like raspberries, oranges and strawberries, and the result was something totally delicious and refreshing. Perfect for summer!

For many buyers, packaging is an important part when choosing their wine, and we were particularly impressed with Stark Raving’s slick look. A collaboration between San Diego’s Bulldog Drummond and Diageo, the world’s largest alcohol production company — everything was developed from the ground up — from the name, brand story and packaging.

“The design language and tone for the brand was inspired by the artisinal and scientific nature of winemaking and the eccentricity of a mad scientist,” says Bulldog Drummond. “We partnered with photographer Dean Bradshaw to capture the spirit of the Stark Raving wine-maker as our hero for the brand. The imagery and series of wines are highly stylized and unlike anything else you’ll find on-shelf.”

We’d have to agree! And priced at just $15, this makes for a perfect wine for a late-summer BBQ or dinner with friends.
