This week we had the chance to visit Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. in Kitsilano, for their Pizza Making and Beer Tasting event. As part of the Dine Out Vancouver Festival, Rocky Mountain are offering a stellar three-course prix fixe menu for $18.
Perhaps not everyone wants to make their own food, but for us it was a fun experience that brought out the kid in both of us! Alright, not that hard to do – but still. This was right up our alley. As you may already know, we love pizza, and make it quite a bit at home — though we don’t usually make dough from scratch like these professionals do everyday.
Check out our “Famous” tortilla pizzas — it’s a quick and easy cheat recipe
Here’s Jeremy, washing up for our Pizza making session!
Once we arrived in the back, our pizza dough was already prepped and ready to be rolled out. Time to werk it, honey!
Jeremy couldn’t wait to get his hands in there.
There were about a dozen toppings to choose from, and we were told to use no more than five so our pies would cook evenly.
Jeremy chose mozzarella, spinach, mushrooms, pepperoni and goat cheese for his toppings. Adrian did mozzarella, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, and olives.
There goes Adrian’s pizza in the oven. Mmm can’t wait to dig in.
Jeremy had the Banana & Squash Soup, and Adrian had the the Figs & Goat Cheese salad. Both were paired with Stanley Park Noble Pilsner.
Minutes later, our custom-made pizza pies had arrived. Yum!
Our pizza course was paired with the Stanley Park 1897 Amber, which was our favorite out of the three we tried.
For dessert we had choice of 3 items — red wine poached pears with ice cream, warm double chocolate brownie with ice cream, and a gluten-free cheesecake with coconut.
We chose the Brownie and the Cheesecake, which were paired with the Stanley Park Brun, a nutty, toasty brown ale that fit perfectly with both.
Jeremy mugging it up… as usual!
Don’t you wish you could eat this? Fluffy, creamy, and loaded with coconut.
We had a really great time at Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co., and will definitely come again on a regular night. The owner Suzanne and her entire team did a fantastic job at making us feel welcome, and the pizza making made for a really fun time.
While the Pizza Making and Beer Tasting event is now over, Rocky Mountain Flatbread still have a great $18 Dine Out Menu available for you to try. Don’t miss it!
