As much as we love living in The East Village (or Hastings Sunrise, if you prefer), there is a desperate void when it comes to good coffee shops. There are a handful of gems, but there’s always room for more in our humble opinion.

So, you’d imagine our delight when we discovered a new little spot that opened a few weeks ago called Far Out Coffee Post. Run by two guys named Mike and Bob, the shop is a tiny little cafe on the corner of Dundas and Templeton.

Serving up delicious coffee from Origins, as well as tea from Steam (who are actually located just up the street inside Donald’s Market), Far Out is a great little spot to grab a cup and do some people watching, or work on your laptop (they’ve got Wifi).

And it’s not just coffee, they’re serving up some pretty wicked food here, too. With fresh baked goods from Black Rook Bakery and East Village Bakery (who are currently closed due to a flood), the selections are top notch and priced right.

We’ve been a couple times for the pesto tomato grilled cheese, as well as their breakfast sandwich — both of which were fantastic. They even make their own salsa in-house, which we thought was pretty awesome.

We almost don’t want too many people to know about this place and just keep it a secret, but judging how much traffic they had the last morning we were there, we’re pretty sure the secret is already out.
