Today we met up with our friend Sean from Sean’s Adventures In Flavor Town for some more Hot Chocolate Festival goodness. This time we chose Secret Location, a unique cafe/shop located in the heart of Gastown.
The space is immaculately designed, and quite spacious. There wasn’t anyone there when we stopped in, so we had the place to ourselves. We’d been here once before, for the Fashion’s Night Out Media Party, and it looks just as gorgeous now as it did then. Definitely not your typical Gastown hangout, that’s for sure.
Adrian ordered “The Aphrodite,” Nyangbo and parsnip hot chocolate, topped with whipped chocolate ganache and parsnip milk jam. Served with English Breakfast gelato.
The presentation of this drink was quite lovely, probably the most appealing we’ve seen so far during the festival.
Sean ordered the “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,” Smoked cinnamon mocha with chocolate marshmallows and caramel powder. Served with Manjari chocolate brownie.
Jeremy chose the third option on Secret Location’s Hot Chocolate Festival menu — “Blond Mystique”. Roasted white chocolate, candy cap, and cognac hot chocolate. Served with a brown butter Caramelia financier. This one had a real kick to it!

Secret Location really impressed us, and we’d be interested to come again for lunch and see what their food is like. This would be a great place to have high tea, or meet with friends for a drink (or two) after work.
The space itself is stunning, with a luxurious interior. The service was great too, and we appreciated how knowledgeable our server was about their specials during the festival.
