Living in Vancouver definitely has its perks, and access to beautiful, local fresh produce is certainly one of them. We live just a few blocks from a strip of shops and produce markets, which makes it easy for us to get everything we need close to home. Often times during the summer, if it’s not too hot, we’ll bring along our dog Milo and grab some goodies from the local market and have an impromptu picnic.
Our special place is one we go to often, New Brighton Park, is a sprawling piece of natural beauty located in our area of East Vancouver. The park offers a brilliant view of the North Shore mountains and the city’s port, and is the perfect spot for a picnic. With water views, 2 mini beaches, green grass and even a swimming pool, it’s considered one of our city’s best kept secrets, at least for anyone living outside of East Van.
We love the extra creamy flavour that Alexis Dr Portneuf‘s Lady Laurier brie has, and when warmed on the grill, it’s downright irresistible. Paired with delicious local white peaches, baby tomatoes and crunchy pistachios – this is a vibrant appetizer that is great for company or small gatherings.
Lady Laurier has a soft, bloomy rind that lends perfectly to grilling. Paired with luscious summer peaches and tomatoes, this makes for a moorish bite that’s perfect for sharing.
