There are so many food trucks in our city, we’ve lost count. One that has been on our radar is called Eat Chicken Wraps, located in downtown Vancouver. As you might have guessed by its straightforward name, the company specializes in chicken wraps — but what we were most surprised by from our visit was the sheer variety of multicultural flavours present on their menu. From Chinese, American to Mexican, there were lots of options available for different street-food tastes.
We opted for the Hoisin Chicken Wrap, below, which consisted of a Crispy Chinese pancake, five spiced chicken, asian salad, pickled radish, green onion, and drizzled with Hoisin sauce. The taste was enjoyable, with our favourite element definitely being the crispy pancake which was flaky, buttery and light. The chicken was very moist and tender, and was complimented nicely by the pickled radish and crispy lettuce.
The “Kung Pao” Chicken lettuce wrap, below, which honestly wasn’t something we totally loved — mainly because of the diet feel we got from the Iceberg lettuce wrap.
It’s made up of chicken breast, corn, water chestnuts, peanuts, Kung Pao sauce, and sesame chilli oil, and then wrapped in before-said Iceberg lettuce. We could see some people liking this, especially if you were looking to cut carbs (not us), so we can’t discredit this dish altogether. The flavour overall was great, but we were missing the crispy pancake from the first one, no lie!
Also on their menu are tasty sounding options like the Chicken Al Pastor — Mexican roasted chicken, Pico de gallo, guacamole, grilled pineapple, cilantro, fresh lime juice, lettuce and onion. We’ll be trying that one next time!
Eat Chicken Wraps is located at 800 Howe St (at the corner of Howe and Robson) Tuesday through Saturday. Give them a try next time you’re looking for a quick bite Downtown.
