Recently we were invited to Chewies Steam & Oyster Bar for a huge Media Bash. It was a massive turn out to their second location now open in Coal Harbour, located on West Hastings Street.
Both the restaurant and the
waiters menu are pretty large, and impressive.
There’s likely something for everyone at Chewies, so even if you’re not a fan of oysters per se, you could still dine here and have a lovely meal. Everything from Shrimp and Gritz, Baby Back Ribs to Fried Green Tomato Po’ Boys are available on the daily, not to mention an extensive wine and cocktail list, including one hell of a spicy Caesar ($10.50).
We unfortunately didn’t get to stay at this party for too long, nor taste all that much — so we’ll definitely be returning again for a second more thorough visit. Until then, enjoy some photos we took from that evening.
Kale Salad ($10). Green kale, chickpeas, crispy capers, garlic croutons, lemon-garlic dressing
Fried Green Tomato & Prawns ($14). Grilled black tiger prawns, parmesan-panko crusted tomatoes, bacon, shrimp remoulade
Fried Gator & Hushpuppies ($14). Chicken fried gator soaked in buttermilk, corn hush puppies, house made jalapeño jam
Pork Belly Cracklin’ ($10). Crunchy pork belly, Cajun sweet & sour sauce
Blackened Steelhead ($24). Pacific Steelhead, fresh Creole shrimp maque choux, dirty rice, quinoa
Fried Oyster Po’ Boy ($16). Fanny Bay oysters, tartar sauce, iceberg lettuce
Bourbon Bacon Bannofee ($8). Banana flambé, mascarpone cheese and house-made bacon brittle.
Valrhona Chocolate Lava Cake ($10). Dark Valrhona chocolate, fresh cream
The staff at Chewies Steam & Oyster Bar worked hard to create a great event. We’ll be sure to report back when we go back soon for a proper meal!
